Massachusetts Family Business Awards program

The Massachusetts Family Business Awards program was created 4 years ago in a partnership between Northeastern University's Center for Family Business and The Family Firm Institute New England Chapter, to promote and highlight some of the great achievements of Massachusetts-based, family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs.

Today, the Awards program is hosted by The Northeastern University Center for Family Business and annually presents three family businesses, based on size, with
Massachusetts Family Business of the Year Awards
to recognize them for their successfully run and managed family businesses.
 
In 2009, The Northeastern University Center for Family Business created the Certificate of Generational Achievement to recognize the hard work and accomplishment of those family businesses that successfully achieve generational transition and continuity in their business.
  

About the Awards

Massachusetts Family Business of the Year Awards

The Northeastern University Center for Family Business annually presents three family businesses, based on size, with recognition as
Massachusetts Family Business of the Year Awards.

Recipients of the 
Massachusetts Family Business of the Year Awards
are selected by a panel of independent judges based on the following criteria:
• Business success
• Positive business and family linkages
• Multi-generational family involvement
• Contributions to the community and industry
• Innovative business practices or strategies

Certificate of Generational Achievement

Certificates of Generational Achievement are given to family businesses annually as part of the Northeastern University Massachusetts Family Business Awards program to recognize the hard work and accomplishment of those family businesses that successfully in achieve generational transition and continuity in their business. 

Certificates of Generational Achievement are given to family businesses that succeed to the second generation, thirty percent club; and those that succeed to the third generation family business,
twelve percent club; and those that succeed to the 4th or longer, three percent club.

Thirty percent club     second generation family business
Twelve percent club    third generation family business
Three percent club     4th plus generation family business
